Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level security review meeting with senior officials from the Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, Civil Administration, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), intelligence agencies, and the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) to assess the security, logistics, and weather preparedness for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
The Lieutenant Governor directed all agencies to remain on high alert, intensify intelligence-led anti-terror operations, and proactively neutralize emerging security threats to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command; Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat; senior Army commanders, intelligence officials, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, police officers, and representatives of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
Comprehensive Review of Yatra Arrangements
In view of the recent spell of heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions, the Lieutenant Governor conducted a comprehensive review of logistics, safety measures, and emergency response mechanisms along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
He instructed all departments to maintain seamless coordination and ensure the safety, well-being, and convenience of all pilgrims of Baba Barfani. Officials were directed to carry out department-wise audits of essential services, including fire safety, emergency response systems, electricity infrastructure, and water supply, to ensure uninterrupted services during the pilgrimage.
Over 3.91 Lakh Pilgrims Perform Darshan
Highlighting the successful progress of the pilgrimage, the Lieutenant Governor said that more than 3.91 lakh devotees have performed darshan at the Holy Cave Shrine during the first 20 days of the Yatra. He reiterated that the resumption of the Yatra will remain strictly contingent upon weather conditions, with pilgrim safety being the administration’s foremost priority.
Enhanced Disaster Preparedness and Safety Measures
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the need for continuous operational readiness, directing officials to maintain round-the-clock disaster response preparedness, ensure clean pilgrimage tracks and well-maintained sanitation facilities, and keep adequate reserves of rations, LPG, kerosene, oxygen cylinders, and emergency medical supplies at all camps.
To strengthen pilgrim services, he instructed the administration to install additional power DG sets, ensure 24×7 healthcare services, deploy sufficient manpower, and maintain adequate availability of ambulances and oxygen cylinders throughout the Yatra routes.
The Lieutenant Governor also directed officials to strictly prohibit unregistered service providers and enforce a mandatory 100% prepaid service system to ensure transparency and protect pilgrims from overcharging.
To enable a swift response to any emergency, he instructed officials to maintain active traffic management, conduct regular vehicle inspections, ensure all equipment remains fully functional, and issue timely weather advisories. He further directed that every tent along the pilgrimage route must be equipped with a fire extinguisher, while specialized wildlife response units should be deployed along the tracks as an additional safety measure.

The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the dedication and coordinated efforts of the Jammu & Kashmir Police, Indian Army, Civil Administration, CAPFs, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, service providers, volunteers, stakeholders, and local citizens for ensuring the safe, secure, and successful conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra despite challenging weather conditions.

The meeting also assessed inter-departmental coordination to ensure uninterrupted services for devotees.
The Lieutenant Governor directed officials to maintain the highest standards of efficiency and coordination, emphasizing that the safety, comfort, and well-being of pilgrims must remain the top priority. He also reviewed contingency plans and instructed departments to remain fully prepared to respond swiftly to any weather-related or emergency situations during the pilgrimage.
The administration reiterated its commitment to providing a secure and seamless pilgrimage experience through continuous monitoring, robust infrastructure, and coordinated efforts of all departments involved in the annual yatra.
