DTDC Express Ltd., a leading logistics company, has launched its DTDC Udaan initiative in Kashmir to help local businesses, artisans and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) expand into domestic and international markets.
The initiative aims to connect regional entrepreneurs with logistics, fulfilment and digital commerce services, enabling them to reach customers beyond the Valley.
Kashmir’s traditional products, including Pashmina shawls, GI-tagged saffron, handicrafts, dry fruits and willow sports equipment, have significant market potential but often face challenges related to shipping, distribution and access to wider markets.
The launch event in Srinagar brought together 48 business owners and trade representatives from across the region. Participants included manufacturers of willow sports equipment, such as Tramboo Sports and Hangul Sports, alongside businesses dealing in traditional products and regional produce.
Rajesh Nair, Business Head, North, DTDC, delivered the keynote address, followed by discussions on the company’s logistics and digital commerce services.
Abhishek Chakraborty, CEO of DTDC Express Ltd., said the initiative would bring logistics, technology and fulfilment capabilities closer to regional enterprises. He described Kashmir as the first chapter of DTDC Udaan, with plans to extend the initiative to other business ecosystems across India.
The initiative integrates several services, including DTDC eCommerce for fulfilment, DTDC WorldWyde for international shipping to more than 220 destinations, and DTDC Raftaar for faster deliveries in serviceable markets. Its eDOT platform enables eligible businesses to complete onboarding and begin shipping in as little as 10 minutes.DTDC Udaan also incorporates Kaarigo, an e-commerce platform intended to help artisans, regional sellers and MSMEs establish an online presence and connect with customers beyond their immediate markets.
