J&K Shines as Fencing Squad Takes Gold at Senior National C’ship

The Jammu and Kashmir fencing team displayed remarkable skill and determination to win the gold medal in the men’s sabre team event at the 36th Senior National Fencing Championship held at New Delhi today.


In a thrilling final, J&K defeated Maharashtra by 45-38 to claim the top spot, while SSCB and Uttar Pradesh settled for bronze medals. The victorious J&K team comprised Vishal Thapar, Harshit Kohli, Sagar Sahi and Mayank Sharma, with Rashid Ahmed Choudhary (International Referee). The semifinals had seen a nail-biting encounter, with J&K edging past SSCB 45-44, while Maharashtra overpowered Uttar Pradesh 45-29.


In other key events, Haryana clinched the women’s epee team gold, defeating Maharashtra by 45-24, while Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh took bronze. In the men’s foil team final, SSCB defeated Haryana by 45-26 to secure gold, with Tamil Nadu and Punjab earning bronze medals.
