Tourists Hail Security Arrangements and Hospitality in Sonamarg

Security forces on Wednesday carried out intensive checking and search operations in Sonamarg and the adjoining Thajiwas area on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor to ensure the safety of tourists visiting the popular destination in central Kashmir.

The operation was conducted jointly by the CRPF’s 118 Battalion, Ganderbal Police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) as part of heightened security measures during the ongoing tourist season.

Officials said the round-the-clock checking and searches were aimed at strengthening security arrangements and maintaining a peaceful atmosphere for visitors.

“The objective is to ensure the safety of tourists and maintain a secure environment in the area. Security forces are maintaining strict vigil and all necessary measures are in place,” an official said.

Tourists visiting Sonamarg expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements and praised the efforts of the Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police for maintaining peace in the Valley.

“We came to Kashmir with our family and honestly we feel completely safe here. Security forces are present everywhere and tourists are enjoying freely at Sonamarg,” said a tourist from Maharashtra.

“The atmosphere is peaceful and beautiful. We request people from across India to visit Kashmir without fear because the security arrangements are very strong,” he added.

Another tourist at Thajiwas said visitors were moving freely and enjoying the scenic beauty without any fear.

“Today we feel safe here because the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, SOG and Army are working day and night for the safety of tourists,” the tourist said.

Many visitors said that despite memories of last year’s incident at Baisaran, the visible security presence and continuous monitoring by forces have helped restore confidence among travellers visiting Kashmir.
