Shakeel Ahmed, president of the Swim N Survival Society-Kashmir (SNSS-K), awarded certificates and mementoes to over 40 participants at the Water Sports Centre, Nigeen, celebrating the successful completion of a 100-day swimming course. The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Department of Tourism Kashmir, aimed to teach swimming to non-swimmers, garnering enthusiastic participation from the local community, particularly children.
Water sports expert Riyaz Wani, speaking at the event, underscored the vital importance of swimming skills, especially in flood-prone regions like the Valley, citing the crucial role swimmers played during the 2014 floods.
Senior trainers, including Riyaz Wani, Yasir Makhdoomi, and Zahid Iqbal, provided essential swimming and water survival training. Other notable attendees included Mudasir Chasti, Owais Rashid and Nasir Majeed, all of whom contributed to the camp’s success.
