SKUAST-K hosts J-Gate CeRA Regional Training Program for North Indian Agricultural Librarians

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) on Monday hosted the J-Gate CeRA (Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture) Regional Training and Awareness Program for Agricultural Librarians of North India. The event focused on enhancing the skills of agricultural librarians, drawing participation from prominent figures in the field.

The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, who was the Chief Guest, highlighted the vital role librarians play in bridging research and its practical application, contributing to the agricultural sector’s growth. He emphasized that libraries should be central to universities, attracting students to engage with these knowledge hubs.

The event featured a range of addresses, including from Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Director of Education at ICAR, who discussed integrating digital tools in academic libraries. Mr. Devendra Thakur, CEO of Informatics, introduced the program, while Dr. H.K. Tripathi, CeRA Incharge, ICAR, emphasized CeRA’s role in promoting agricultural research. Best Usage Awards for J-Gate@CeRA 2023 were also distributed among various agricultural universities.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Nazir Ahmad, Deputy Librarian at SKUAST-K.
