NMBA Programs Gain Momentum Across Pulwama Through Outreach Drives

As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a series of awareness, outreach and sports activities were conducted across Pulwama district by multiple departments to promote a drug-free society and encourage a healthy lifestyle.

The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Pulwama organised a wide range of activities and competitions across various educational institutions, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students and youth. The programmes included expert guest lectures, pledge-taking ceremonies and sports competitions aimed at spreading awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse.

In Zone Pulwama, softball competitions were held at BHSS Pulwama, Kabaddi at HSS Hawl, while expert guest lectures were organised at HSS Karimabad, HSS Hawl, GMS Pulwama and UPS Chewakalan.

In Zone Tahab, volleyball and chess competitions were conducted at GMS Batpora and UPS Karewa, and guest lectures at HS Naina and UPS Ladermar.

In Zone Pampore, zonal-level badminton and chess tournaments were held at GHSS Pampore, while BHSS Ladhoo organised skits and awareness lectures as part of the campaign.

In Zone Tral, zonal-level U-17 boys’ volleyball competition was conducted at Sports Stadium Bajwani and badminton competition at Indoor Stadium Bajwani, along with awareness programmes across the zone.

Additionally, chess and carrom competitions were organised at HSS Rajpora, while a zonal-level Kho-Kho competition was conducted at GMS Lurgam.

Participants across all activities also took part in pledge-taking ceremonies committing to work towards building a healthy, prosperous and drug-free society.

Meanwhile, the Drug Control Department Pulwama carried out inspections of medical shops at Wanpora, Parigam, Newa and main town Pulwama to ensure compliance with drug regulations.

Besides, a multi-sectoral awareness programme was organised at Panchayat Ghar Ladhoo, Pampore, witnessing active participation from the public. The event was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora, Tehsildar Pampore, Block Development Officer Pampore and officers from the Police and Civil Administration. The programme featured awareness sessions on drug abuse prevention, along with cultural performances including nukkad natak and cultural songs, aimed at sensitising the community and reinforcing the message of a drug-free society.

Similarly, awareness sessions were organised at Tral-i-Payeen and Bamnoo Ichegoza, where officers from various departments interacted with participants and highlighted the ill effects of substance abuse.

The programmes witnessed participation from local residents, youth and students, and included pledge-taking ceremonies and awareness activities to promote collective responsibility in curbing drug menace.

Furthermore, the Education Department organised special guest lectures across educational institutions in the district as part of the campaign sensitising students on the harmful effects of drug abuse.

The activities form part of the district’s continued efforts to involve all sections of society in combating drug abuse and strengthening community awareness.
