Meet Kashmir’s first female wheelchair basketball player – “TRULY AN INSPIRATION”

Insha Bashir never let her physical weakness to overshadow her dreams and is a symbol of courage.  Insha Bashir, is the first female wheelchair-bound basketball player from the Kashmir Valley who recently played at the national level. Insha hails from Budgam district’s Beerwah area. Insha faced a terrible accident wherein she lost her ability to walk. She was in 10th class when she fell from her own under-construction house in 2008. The pain gave her feelings of depression and worthlessness. During her volunteer days at an NGO named Voluntary Medicare Society, she became keenly interested in basketball and over time became qualified for the National Championship in Hyderabad, in 2017. Now, Insha continues to train in a special training camp set up for specially-abled children.
