Kashmiri siblings win top Psychiatry Fellowships in London..

Two British-Kashmiri siblings have been awarded Fellowships of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in London.
They received the prestigious fellowships from Dr. Lade Smith CBE, President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in London, UK, earlier this week at a fellowship ceremony held at the Royal College of Psychiatrists in London.

Born and brought up in Srinagar and having attended Tyndale Biscoe School, Dr. Sarfaraz Aslam Shora is a consultant psychiatrist in Intensive Care at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust in the UK.
He is the Director of Medical Education, Deputy Medical Director of the trust, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds.
His clinical interest lies in psychosis, while his non-clinical interests include education and quality improvement.

After completing his schooling, he graduated with an MBBS from Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences, Jammu. He worked in New Delhi before moving to the UK in 2008.
Dr. Sarfaraz is the recipient of multiple international and national awards in the UK.
His sister, Dr. Shaheen Aslam Shora, was also awarded the fellowship. She, being a high academic achiever in school, enjoyed writing, debating, art, and music during her time at Mallinson Girls School.

Dr. Shaheen completed a diploma in psychological counselling in Chennai, India, and earned her master’s degree in Culture and Health from University College London in 2009.
She currently works as a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist at Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and is the Clinical Director of Specialist Services in Hertfordshire, UK.
Dr Shaheen is also a CASC examiner at the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and mentoring doctors is one of her passions. Dr. Shaheen is the General Secretary of the British Kashmiri Medical Association (BKMA).
