At a ceremony in New Delhi on the eve of Doctors’ Day, Dr Mir Shahnawaz, a Kashmiri Doctor, Director and Founder of DERMIS-Skin and Hair Clinic in Srinagar, received the “Economic Times Most Inspiring Cosmetologist of the Year Award.” The accolade was given to him during the 7th Edition of The Times Now Doctor’s Day Conclave 2024, which celebrates the nation’s medical professionals.
To commemorate Doctors Day, the Times Now Doctors Day Conclave brought together leading medical professionals to celebrate their contributions and address pressing health issues in India.
Dr Shahnawaz’s contributions to dermatology and aesthetics were recognised with the award. He is known for his meticulous approach and personalised care, making him a trusted name in the field of aesthetic medicine.
Dr Shahnawaz expressed his gratitude: “I am deeply honoured and delighted to receive this prestigious award from the Economic Times Group. It is a humbling experience to be recognised among such esteemed colleagues who have also achieved excellence in their respective fields”.
He further added, “ I firmly believe that as dermatologists, we must consistently push the boundaries of aesthetics. Our commitment lies in exploring new frontiers and ensuring that our patients receive the highest standards of care and innovation.”
Quoting Steve Jobs, he said, “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” He underscored that this relentless pursuit of innovation propels him and his team daily to explore cutting-edge technologies and stay abreast of the latest advancements in aesthetics.
Talking about Cosmetology and its importance in the present world, Dr Shahnawaz said “Cosmetology is an ever-evolving field dedicated to enhancing beauty and restoring youthful appearances through various procedures. In today’s fast-paced world, everyone desires flawless skin, free from imperfections. The answer lies in cosmological procedures that can make you look younger, eliminate sun spots, and impart a radiant glow.”
He further mentioned, “As aesthetic dermatologists, we have witnessed a sharp rise in the number of people in the valley seeking cosmological procedures such as threads, fillers, Botox, and non-surgical rhinoplasty. However, the public must understand and be vigilant that these procedures should only be performed by certified doctors with minimal qualifications of MBBS and a mandatory MD in dermatology or by a plastic surgeon.”
Talking about Kashmir, he said, there has been a troubling increase in the number of quacks who lure people with enticing Instagram reels. Lacking basic skills, they often end up ruining patients’ faces. Always entrust your face to a certified doctor rather than falling prey to quacks. “Your face deserves the best care, and that comes from the hands of qualified professionals.”
He concluded by expressing his deepest gratitude, humbly dedicating the award to all his valued patients.
