IUST signs MoU with Germany’s Paderborn University to boost academic collaboration

The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Germany’s Paderborn University to strengthen international academic collaboration and promote joint research and academic exchanges.The agreement was signed between the Department of Philosophy at IUST and the Centre for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists at Paderborn University.

The collaboration will be coordinated by Dr. Muzaffar Ali Malla, head of the Department of Philosophy at IUST, and Prof. Ruth Hagengruber, director of the Centre for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists at Paderborn University.

The MoU signing ceremony was presided over by IUST Registrar Prof. Shamim Ahmad Shah, who described the agreement as a significant step in the university’s efforts to expand its international academic engagement.He said the partnership would promote high-quality research, academic exchange and innovative scholarly initiatives while creating opportunities for students, researchers and faculty members of both institutions.

Shah said such collaborations reflect IUST’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and knowledge creation, while strengthening its presence in the global academic community.

Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Afroz Ahmad Bisati, welcomed the initiative and said the partnership would enhance international academic cooperation, interdisciplinary research and the university’s global outreach.The ceremony was attended by Finance Officer Samir Wazir, Dean Research Dr. Aabid Hussain Shalla, Dean Outreach Dr. Ruheela Hassan, and In-charge International Affairs and Dean Students Dr. Monisa Qadiri.

Representing Paderborn University, President Prof. Dr. Matthias Bauer and Prof. Ruth Hagengruber welcomed the collaboration and expressed confidence that it would lead to sustained academic cooperation, joint research projects, faculty and student exchanges, and long-term intellectual engagement between the two institutions.
