Healing Beyond Boundaries: Pulwama Hospital Pays Tribute to Dr Yousuf Tak’s National Honour

District Hospital Pulwama witnessed an atmosphere of pride and celebration as doctors and paramedical staff accorded a warm reception to Dr M. Yousuf Tak following his receipt of a prestigious national award for outstanding contribution to healthcare.

Dr Yousuf Tak, Senior Consultant and In-charge of the Pain and Palliative Care Unit at the hospital, has been recognised for his pioneering work in ozone therapy and longevity medicine, disciplines that have brought renewed hope to patients suffering from chronic and debilitating pain across South Kashmir.

Widely regarded as a trailblazer in regenerative pain management in the region, Dr Tak has played a crucial role in introducing ozone therapy at the district level, making advanced pain relief accessible to patients who otherwise had limited options. His interventions have helped restore mobility, dignity and quality of life to hundreds of patients, many of whom had endured years of persistent pain.

Under his leadership, the Pain and Palliative Care Unit at District Hospital Pulwama has evolved into a key referral centre, catering not only to local patients but also to those from neighbouring districts. The unit provides comprehensive services to cancer patients, including pain control, palliative care and necessary interventional procedures, easing suffering at some of the most critical stages of illness.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tak expressed deep gratitude to his colleagues, doctors and paramedical staff for the warm welcome and constant support. He said the national recognition was a reflection of collective teamwork and the shared commitment of the entire hospital staff towards compassionate, patient-centric care.

The award, staff members said, has brought national recognition to District Hospital Pulwama, highlighting its growing role in delivering specialised and humane healthcare at the district level.
