The Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar successfully conducted the 17th three‑day Research Methodology Workshop from May 12–14 2026, aimed at strengthening research skills among medical faculty, postgraduate students, and young researchers from medical colleges, dental college and Research institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr) Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal, GMC Srinagar, who highlighted the critical role of high‑quality research in advancing healthcare delivery and medical education. She noted that structured training in research methods is essential for developing a scientific temperament among medical professionals and for promoting evidence‑based practice in the region, said a press release.
The workshop featured distinguished national and regional experts, including Prof. (Dr) R. M. Pandey, ICMR–Dr A. S. Paintal Distinguished Scientist Chair, National Institute of Data Health and Data Sciences, New Delhi; Prof. (Dr) Sonu Goel, Professor, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER Chandigarh; and Prof. (Dr) Shariq Masoodi, Former Professor & Head, Department of Endocrinology and ex-Dean, Medical Faculty, SKIMS Soura. From GMC Srinagar, Prof. (Dr) S. M. Salim Khan, Head of the Department of Community Medicine & organising chairman, and Prof. (Dr) Mohammad Iqbal Pandit served as faculty resource persons while Dr. Inaamul Haq was the organising secretary of the workshop.
Prof. (Dr) S. M. Salim Khan stated that the workshop was designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical foundations and practical applications of biomedical research.
