Anantnag youth gets prestigious Chevening scholarship

A law graduate from Anantnag district has been selected to receive the prestigious Chevening Scholarship, a program by the government in United Kingdom (UK).
The scholarship enables “future leaders” to pursue a fully funded one year masters program in any subject at any university across the UK.
Former Pakistani Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto, has been among the recipients of this prestigious scholarship in the past-along with other world luminaries.
Shoaib Latif Khan, son of Latif Ahmad Khan and Waheeda Khan, was among more than 65000 candidates from across 170 countries to have applied for the scholarship.
He has been handpicked, along with thirteen to fourteen hundred students from across the world-to be a proud recipient of the scholarship.
Originally hailing from Qazigund area and now a resident of Iqbal Abad area in Anantnag town, Shoaib has pursued an integrated law honors degree from University of Kashmir. He has passed out in 2017.
Earlier Shoaib was also selected for a student’s exchange program by Urban Youth Academy-supported by the UNDP, the ADB and 18 other local UN bodies.
Talking to Kashmir Reader Shoaib thanked his parents and teachers for the achievement. He said that he will work for the betterment of his own people, after he completes his studies.
“I hope I am not the last one to receive this scholarship. I hope many more students come forth and work hard in the coming years,” Shoaib said.
He thanked his friends for their constant support at the university, one Yawar Hussain Shah in particular.
His friends from the university describe him as a humble and hardworking soul.
“He deserves every bit of it. He has worked very hard,” his university mate, Mudassir Khanday, told Kashmir Reader.
