Abid Nabi creates history as first Kashmiri picked for Legends Cricket League

In a historic achievement, veteran cricketer Abid Nabi from Kashmir has been selected by the Urbanrisers Hyderabad franchise for the upcoming Legends Cricket League (LCC). Abid becomes the first player from Kashmir to be picked for this prestigious tournament, marking a major milestone in his cricketing career.

Abid is a cricket veteran and has the longest career as a cricketer. He holds a record of the fastest one-hundred wickets in first-class cricket. Even after being out of JKCA due to unknown reasons, the entire credit for his selection goes to Abid — the man who never lost hope and kept persevering.

While talking to Rising Kashmir, Abid said he is delighted and felt relieved after being selected in LCC. It feels like, after years of waiting I finally got my break,” he said. Reflecting on that tough phase, “It pains when a cricketer is flatly told he doesn’t have to play the game but I never stopped dropping my arms. I have prayed for this moment and God finally listens to me

The third edition of the Legends Cricket League, featuring top cricketers from India and around the world, is set to begin on September 20. While the LCC auction was held recently to select players, some teams, including Urban Riser Hyderabad, were given the option to sign players directly.

At 38 years old, Abid Nabi still holds the record for being the fastest to reach 181 first-class wickets in India. Although he last played for J.K. Pack in 2017, he has remained active in local cricket, consistently showcasing his talent.

With the final leg of the LCC scheduled to be played in Srinagar, Abid’s inclusion in the league brings immense pride to Kashmir and provides fans with something special to celebrate.

Replying to the query the veteran cricketer said, that Kashmir has good cricket and it needs furnishing. He said the JKCA should provide all the facilities to this new talent to take them to new heights.
