LG Manoj Sinha Becomes First SASB Chairman to Reach Amarnath Cave via Baltal Route

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has become the first Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) in recent times to undertake the pilgrimage to the Holy Cave through the Baltal route.

During his visit, the LG inspected the ongoing maintenance, upgradation, and widening of the Yatra track. He took a firsthand review of safety measures implemented by the SASB and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage for devotees.

The LG praised the extensive efforts made by BRO and SASB in preparing the tracks. He said that after the conclusion of the 2024 Yatra, special attention has been given to developing safer and more accessible tracks on both routes.

“A new alternate route from Chandanwari to Pissutop will be ready for the 2025 Yatra. It will feature safety hand railings and improved surfacing for the convenience of pilgrims,” he said.

Safety railings have already been installed at vulnerable spots along the Pahalgam route. Hazardous zones have been secured using gabion and breast walls, fencing, and wire mesh to guard against falling stones—especially in stretches like Railpathri-Brarimarg, Kalimata-Lower Cave, Panjtarni-Sangam-Holy Cave, and Chandanwari-Pissutop-Zozibal.

To prevent slips, granular sub-base material has been applied on risky stretches of both routes. ILCB tiles have also been installed on slippery sections, including Domail–Railpathri–Brari (Baltal route) and Chandanwari–Pissutop–Zozibal–MG Top (Pahalgam route).
