Wood Carving Exhibition inaugurated

An exquisite wood carving exhibition showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship of Ghulam Nabi Zargar, a revered master wood carving artisan was inaugurated today at the Government Arts Emporium Srinagar.

This event is part of the Handicraft Department’s ‘Know Your Artisan’ initiative, aimed at highlighting the exceptional talents and rich cultural heritage of Kashmiri artisans.

The two-day exhibition was inaugurated jointly by the Director of Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir and the Managing Director of Handicrafts and Handloom S&E.

Since Srinagar’s inclusion in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) and its recognition as a ‘World Craft City’ by the World Crafts Council, the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir has been at the forefront of organizing events that celebrate the region’s rich artistic traditions. This exhibition is a testament to their ongoing efforts to promote and preserve the unique craftsmanship of Kashmir.

Ghulam Nabi Zargar, renowned for his intricate wood carvings, has dedicated his life to perfecting the art form.
