Jammu and Kashmir Junior Wushu team secured 5th place in overall medal tally by bagging one gold, four silver and three bronze medals in 21st Junior National Wushu championship held at Calicut Kerala from September 01-06, 2022.
Kaifa Shah bagged gold medal in 56Kg weight category for J&K (UT). Mohammad Ali, Musharaf,Ajmal and AnsaChisti won silver medals while Mohd Amir, Vasu and Palkeet Singh bagged bronze medals in the championship.
Around 1100 players from 36 units of Wushu Association of India participated in said championship and showcased their talent.
“The Technical committee of Wushu Association of India will finalise list of campers shortlisted through National Championship for the National Coaching camp in view of 8th World Wushu championship scheduled to be held at Indonesia in December 2022,” said Coach and Dronacharya Awardee, KuldeepHandoo.
President Wushu Association J&K, Vijay Saraf congratulated Junior Wushu team for excellent performance in national Championship.
General Secretary Wushu Association J&K Bhavneet also congratulated Juniormedalists for their outstanding performance in championship.
She extended gratitude to J&K Sports Council for support and appealed Government for allotment of “Centre of Excellence” for wushu game as wushu is the promising and medal prospectus sports in J&K.
Earlier on, Wushu Association of J&K organised Coaching camp for Junior Wushu team for two months at Polo Ground Srinagar, where KuldeepHandooDronacharya Awardee imparted coaching to Junior Wushu team and moreover, Senior Wushu team is also being trained by Handoo at the same venue.
