2 mountain bikers cover 566 kms from Ganderbal to Leh

Two young mountain bikers from Ganderbal covered 566 kilometres in five days.

Muhammad Amin Lone of Arhama Kangan, who is pursuing masters in physical education, and Bazil Shafi Rather of Tawheedpora Kangan, a BSc student, started the expedition from Arhama Ganderbal on 14 August and covered 566 kilometres in five days.

“We started on August 14 and on first day from Arhama we covered 190 KM, on second day we covered 60 km, on third day from Kargil to Khalsi we covered 120 km, on fourth day from Khalsi to Leh market we covered 106 km and on fifth and final day we covered a distance of 90 Km from Leh to Shakti (Panggong lake road),” said Amin.

He said the most challenging tread was Namkila pass which is at 12198 ft and Potula pass at 13479 ft.
