2 -Day inter Uni Academic Brainstorming on Sustainable Dev through Innovation & Ecosystem concludes at SKUAST

Two Day inter University Academic Brainstorming on the theme, “Sustainable Development through Innovation and Startup Ecosystem”today concluded at SKUAST Kashmir’s Shailmar campus. The event saw the participation of leading scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, scholars from diverse backgrounds discussing and deliberating on the critical aspects of sustainable future vis-à-vis Jammu & Kashmir and developing science and technology action plan for a future-ready J&K.

In an impressive valedictory function held at new Shalimar Convention Centre, the Chief Guest Dr. Ashutosh Sharma, President INSA, appreciated the efforts of University in successful conduct of programme on an quite relevant theme. Prof. Sharma called to have a type brainstorming Triple helix involving Academia, Industry and Government. for a road map to sustainable development. Prof. Ashutosh briefly highlighted the major recommendations of the programme and the sectoral reforms needed thereof. He again reiterated the need for selection of best global practices for solutions to local problems. All this would primarily focus on innovation driven Bio -economy with enhanced role of
modern technology & incubators in its ecosystem. He further highlighted the important concepts of the role of University in linkage/ collaborations and diversity for a sustainable development.
Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir in his address appreciated the efforts of all the contributors of the programme and hoped that the recommendations will serve in developing a roadmap for sustainable development. Prof. Ganai said that the basic aim of the programme
was to chart out the way to have new age technology driven resilient J&K overcoming the barriers in development of next generation infrastructure to it’s robust and sustainable ecosystem in place. All this will go a long way in positioning J&K as a progressive and developed region.. Prof. Nazir hoped that participants from other parts of the country would act as ambassadors of J&K in
general and SKUAST-K in particular.

Prof. Akhilesh Gupta, former Secretary SERB, in his address mentioned the participation in the programme as rewarding and quite satisfying. Prof. Gupta apprised the audience about the various key issues deliberated and debated during the course of last two days, that not only seem to be quite relevant in current times but have long lasting impact. Prof. Gupta believed the further

uptake of these issues and recommendations with make this region a knowledge driven scientific economy of high repute and be a touch bearer to rest of the country.
Earlier, the organizing Secretary Prof. Syed Mudasir Andrabi presented the detailed summary of the two day event. completion report while other organizing secretary Prof. Khursheed Ahmad presented the welcome speech at the valedictory function. The event ended with vote of thanks by Director Research, SKUAST-Kashmir, Prof. H.R. Naik.
