Zahid Hussain Beig Kashmiri artist forced to quit school due to poverty wins National award.

A Kashmiri paper mache artist hailing from Srinagar has won the ministry of Textile’s National award.
Zahid Hussain Beig, a paper mache artist who quit his school due to poor financial condition of the family has won the Ministry of Textiles’s National award among several others.
Beig dedicated himself to the art after dropping out of school, “After leaving school I dedicated myself to this art form.” he said.
While talking about the uniqueness of Kashmiri art Beig said that the art of Kashmir be it paper mache, shawl, or wood carving is unique & loved all over the world, ” If the state government or the central government provides it adequate support & encouragement, it can become a good career opportunity for youngsters.
