PAMPORE: Pampore visually impaired cricketer played his maiden T20 match against England at Banglore.
Irfan Ahmad Mir (20) was included in National team and would be part of the squad that would be playing a bilateral T20 series to be held at Banglore from today.
Irfan Ahmad Mir (20) had been part of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association for blind (JKCAB) from last one year.
The squad was announced on September 30 where Irfan has been put in B1 category and has the highest probability to debut in the series in the very first match.
While talking to Bilal Habib Irfan from Banglore told media, that his happiness knew no bounds when he got to know that he has been selected for National Squad.
“ I just can tell you that the struggle and optimism that had been depicted by the well wishers has paid off,” he had said earlier adding that he was very thankful to his family that supported in the hours of need and let his talent flourish.
Irfan had been playing first class blind cricket from last three years. Initially he had gone to Dehradun to take a blind management course and started playing cricket.
“ He in his initial games was spotted by Uttar Pradesh blind team captain Zeeshan Abbas who invited him to be part of UP Blind team.
Irfan after playing first class cricket never looked back and played for Delhi also. He also became one of the pioneers to establish Jammu and Kashmir Criccket Association for Blind and got it associated to CABI.
He told media that he wants an equal treatment as that of other players who made to national squads in normal cricket and other games.
