Valley Sisters Start Web Designing Firm

When twin sisters Kaif Saleem and Koshiya Saleem went to look for a job in the Valley after completing their engineering in computer sciences, they were denied the same for being freshers.

And then as if luck knocked at their door and they got an offer of designing a website by a Srinagar-based food outlet, which opened new vistas for them.

“Once we designed a website for Parsa’s food outlet in Srinagar, everyone was quite appreciative. It lifted our spirits,” says Kaif, who along with her sister started her start-up web designing company in September last year.

They named the start-up ‘KreativeJohny’ after their father Saleem, whom they call Johny. They said their father encouraged them to choose a career of their interest.

“When we finished our degree in computer science, we started looking for a job. But wherever we went for interview, we were denied job as we were freshers. Though we were initially disappointed, it made us work harder,” says Koshiya.

“There is lot of challenge as people feel men are better in this field. But gradually this mindset will change with more women opting for tech-driven start ups,” they said. “Technology is future and the field has a good scope,” the twins added.

Both sisters, who opened their office at Rajbagh in the city, said the turmoil in the Valley affected young entrepreneurs, but they were ready to take the risk.

“Sometimes we have to work from home and can’t go to office due to the volatile situation, but that’s fine. I guess our work can be done from anywhere,” the sisters, who reside in Buchpora, said.

They are working on a number of projects to develop commercial websites.
