Valley sees over 1 lakh tourist arrivals in Nov, highest in ongoing year

For the first time in the ongoing year, monthly tourist arrivals in the valley crossed more than 1 lakh mark in the last month, said the officials.

According to the officials, the month of November 2021 recorded the footfall of around 1,15,000 tourists in the valley, which is highest in the year so far.The officials said the surge in tourist arrivals to the Valley was due to the hard yards put in by the Tourism Department.

In a bid to attract more tourists to the Valley, the Department took several initiatives and organised various programmes and festivals in collaboration with the various district administrations of the valley and stakeholders associated with the tourism industry.

“Various programmes and festivals were organised in a bid to attract tourists across the country and the department is likely scheduled to organise various programmes and events in coming months”, said an official.

The officials said that the J&K administration identified 75 offbeat locations to promote them as destinations to visit, besides, the Tourism Directorate in Kashmir organised several programmes and festivals to attract the tourists and to bring these destinations on tourism map

.The Department also organised an iconic week festival and hosted a maiden floating theatre inside the Dal Lake to showcase the movies shot in the Valley in early 80s, said the officials.According to the official figures the month of October recorded a footfall of around 92000.
