Promoting the offbeat tourist destinations in the valley, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism department in collaboration with the district administration Bandipora today organised a day long ‘Wular festival’ at Vintage Park in Saderekot area of district Bandipora.
According to the officials in the tourism department the event is aimed at to promote newly identified offbeat tourist destinations in the valley and an effort to bring them on tourism Map.
The officials said the day long festival includes Musical cum cultural programme ethnic local crusine, boat racing, cycle and bike rally, and Bird watching.
Notably, the government has identified 75 lesser known destinations in Jammu and Kashmir to promote them as tourist attractions and is also aiming at to bring these new destinations on tourism map.
The tourism department recently organised iconic festival which also showcased the first of it’s kind floating theatre and movies of which were shot in valley in early 80s were Re plugged.
On the occasion Commisioner Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez, Director Tourism Dr. G. N. Itoo, DC Bandipora Dr. Owais, DDC Chairperson Abdul Gani Bhat and officials from civil and police administration were present.
