A unique Snow Skiing Course exclusive for girls, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports concluded at picturesque Gulmarg
The Course, in which 60 girls drawn from six districts of the Union Territory took part, was held under the patronage of Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K.
It was for the first time in Skiing history of Jammu and Kashmir that the girls from Jammu division participated in the Skiing event to hone their skill.
The girls were drawn from four districts of Jammu division and two districts of Kashmir province.
The participating districts included Jammu, Kathua, Samba and Udhampur from Jammu province, while the girls from the districts of Kulgam and Bandipora from Kashmir province also took part in the event.
Shabir Ahmed Wani, Skiing expert and former Assistant Director Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest on the concluding function, while prominent among others present on the occasion were Ajaz Ahmed Haji, Section Officer Directorate of YS & Sports and Hilal Ahmed, In-charge Winter Sports Gulmarg.
The girls were imparted training by the Skiing instructors including Niyaz Ahmed, Abdul Qayoom, Mushtaq Ahmed, Rafiq Ahmed, Sajad Sofi and Zahida Majeed.
