Smart City Project: 90% projects completed

Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr Owais Ahmed on Thursday said that Ninety percent of smart city works have been completed while as remaining work will be completed in next two months.
“We have completed nearly 90% of our projects. Our major work is finished, and we are now focused on the finishing touches. Only footpath and macadamization work remains for some road projects. Sewage, drainage, and conduiting work are already done”, Owais told reporters while reviewing progress of work on Balidan Stambh in Lalchowk.
Owais said the work on Balidan Stambh is going on and the major work is complete and they are currently working on the finishing, landscaping, and path making. “The remaining projects will take 15-20 days to a maximum of 1.5 to 2 months. Our maximum projects will be completed within the next 1-2 months”, he said.
On developments in Downtown, he said that they have almost completed projects like facade development in three different areas and the development of internal lanes. Cobblestone laying and major works on Dalgate-Gujwara road, including conduiting, drainage, and pole shifting, are also complete. The road widening and macadamization will follow soon.”
On Smart City buses, Owais said that the public response to Smart City buses has been very positive. “These buses feature app tracking, HVAC facilities, and electric options. We expect 100 more buses to join our bus service soon, which will help cover high-demand routes.”
