SKUAST-K, Jain Irrigations sign MoU

In a transformative step towards modernising agriculture in Jammu and Kashmir, the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-Kashmir) has entered into a strategic partnership with Jain Irrigation Systems Limited.

As per the press statement, the two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 9, with the goal of delivering smart, technology-driven agricultural solutions to the region’s farmers.

The agreement was formalised by Professor Nazeer Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Kashmir, and Ajit Jain, Joint Managing Director of Jain Irrigation Systems Limited, during a ceremony held at Jalgaon.

The collaboration is aimed at revolutionising agricultural practices in Jammu and Kashmir by leveraging state-of-the-art irrigation systems, precision farming techniques, and sustainable farming solutions. These efforts are focused on addressing the region’s unique environmental challenges, such as water scarcity, harsh climatic conditions, and limited arable land, while ensuring increased productivity and sustainability.

Vice Chancellor, Professor Nazeer Ahmad Ganai, emphasized the significance of the partnership: “This MoU marks a critical step forward in our mission to empower the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir. By integrating smart technologies and sustainable farming practices, we are equipping our farmers with the tools they need to boost productivity, conserve water, and ensure food security in the region. This partnership will significantly enhance the agricultural landscape, driving innovation and resilience in the face of changing environmental conditions.”

Ajit Jain, Joint Managing Director of Jain Irrigation Systems Limited, echoed these sentiments: “We are honored to partner with SKUAST-Kashmir to bring cutting-edge irrigation and farming technologies to the farmers of this region. Through precision farming and smart irrigation systems, we will help optimize the use of resources like water and fertilizers, leading to sustainable agricultural growth. This collaboration reflects our commitment to improving farmers’ livelihoods and contributing to food security while preserving the environment.”
