SKUAST-K holds program to boost floriculture startups in Kashmir..

A one-week advanced entrepreneurship skill development programme, sponsored by the Ministry of MSME, GoI, on entrepreneurship opportunities through commercial floriculture and management strategies for startups, was organized by Division of Floriculture and Landscape Architecture, FoH, SKUAST-Kashmir
SohailAllaqband representative from MSME while addressing the participants, especially young youth emphasized on an exploration of this training program for the establishment of their own startups to become futuristic entrepreneurs of the country.

AMoU was signed between Biocarve Seeds and SKUAST-K. The founder director of Biocarve Seeds, Prof Allah Rang, revealed the successful journey during the establishment of the big farm of 8000 kanals in different areas of Punjab. He also informed how his team with technical and other financial support connected farmers across Punjab from the grassroots level for commercial floriculture.

He desired to replicate the same for Kashmiri farmers to enhance their income by connecting them to commercial floriculture and also desired to connect them with export markets like Holland through buy buy-back policy.

The Chief Guest Prof HaroonNaik, Director Planning and Monitoring expressed the role of SKUAST-K in exploring the new entrepreneurs through these skill-based programs sponsored by MSME and shared his views about commercial floriculture as a big avenue for youth to establish them in entrepreneurship business with the scope of export avenues too.

Professor Naik praised the innovative role of Vice Chancellor Professor Nazir A Ganie through his dynamic leadership which has resulted in SKUAST K as the only agriculture university in the country.

national experts Dr Allah Rang and Dr N K Dandlani expressed thrust on commercial Floriculture so that entrepreneurship and socio-economic upliftment can be achieved for educated youth.
Professor Nelofer of Floriculture Division informed the house about the role of Floriculture in sustainable development.

During an interaction session Dr Z A Rather, Dr Z A Qadri, Dr Zahoor A Rather, Dr Riaz and other participants discussed the road map of commercialisation. Dr Nasir Masoodi presented an overview of the program and opportunities for youth in floriculture.

Professor Imtiyaz T. Nazki Head Division of FLA, SKUAST-K while addressing the participants addressed key factors which can flourish the commercial Floriculture sector of Kashmir keeping in view niche crops and suitable agro-climatic conditions.
Professor F.U. Khan presented a vote of thanks to the chief guest and other delegates.
