The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has been honoured with the prestigious “Excellence in Agri-Incubation Award 2025” by Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I), in collaboration with ITC and AIC of India.
The award acknowledges SKUAST-K’s Innovation Centre (SKIIE) for its exceptional efforts in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and the advancement of the agricultural sector.
Out of 18 participating agri-incubators across India, SKIIE was selected for its robust incubation programs, mentorship, and support system that has helped launch over 67 scalable startups, 50 commercially viable intellectual properties (IP), and created a network of over 159 mentors.
The award was presented at the 9th Edition FPO/Agri-Startup Meet on January 17, 2025, in New Delhi. Naveed Hamid, CEO of the SKIIE Centre, received the award from Abhishek Dev, IAS, Chairman of APEDA, in the presence of key dignitaries including Dheeraj Sahu, IAS, Managing Director of SFAC, and Subhodip Ghosh, Director General of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
SKUAST-K’s commitment to empowering young innovators and entrepreneurs in Jammu and Kashmir continues to make a significant impact on the region’s agricultural landscape. Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-K, congratulated the team for this national recognition, reaffirming the university’s mission to contribute to the transformation of the agricultural sector in the region and the broader goals of VIKSIT Bharat-2047.
