Secretary, Planning Development and Monitoring Department (PD&MD), Aijaz Asad, today convened a meeting with officers of Rural Development Department to review progress on implementation of “Himayat” scheme in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was convened to analyze the current status of Himayat scheme (PMDP Project) besides deliberating on strategies aimed at to ensure effective implementation of the ambitious programme in the UT.
Highlighting the significance of the scheme in fostering economic development and employment opportunities, the Secretary called upon the concerned authorities to further step up efforts towards ensuring successful implementation of the scheme benefitting maximum beneficiaries.
Secretary asked the Rural Development Department to provide information on the existing gap between the training imparted to the prospective beneficiaries and the subsequent placement opportunities extended to them. The prime objective behind launching this schemes is to facilitate the trained individuals with gainful employment.
Aijaz Asad took stock of existing flaws in smooth execution of the scheme and asked the officers to work out and recommend remedial measures to contain those impediments for obtaining the set targets under the programme. He exhorted upon the concerned officers to work collaboratively towards refining the implementation strategy, addressing challenges and streamlining the process to achieve the scheme’s overarching objectives.
“The Himayat scheme stands as a testament to the government’s unwavering commitment towards socio-economic development of people of Jammu and Kashmir. Through sustained efforts and periodic reviews, the administration aims to fine-tune the scheme, ensuring its efficacy in providing skill development and employment opportunities to the youth of the region”, maintained the Secretary.
