Samiullah Beigh, the first person from J&K has achieved a major milestone in the field of coaching by completing level-1 course under Cricket Australia National Coaching Accreditation Scheme.

Veteran cricketer of J&K, Samiullah Beigh, who has represented the state in Ranji Trophy for 15 years (2002-2017) besides being in the North zone squad for Duleep trophy and Dhoedhar trophy many times in the past, has achieved a major milestone in the field of coaching by completing level-1 course  under Cricket Australia National Coaching Accreditation Scheme.  Samiullah has claimed himself to be the first person from J&K to achieve the feat.

Giving details of the certification, Samiullah said, “I had applied for the course last year based on my cricketing credentials as a successful first-class cricketer during Ranji trophy 2017-18. The accrediting authority provided adequate study material including books, videos and other relevant material for different subjects. The course had 10 subjects and I cleared them all with flying colours”.

“Despite being Masters in Structural engineering and a cricket buff since decades, it took a lot of effort to clear all 10 subjects, as the course involves detailed knowledge about all modern approaches adopted by Cricket Australia”, said the veteran.

Regarding his future plan, Samiullah, who is yet to retire from first class cricket further said, “The Cricket Australia National Coaching Accreditation Scheme involves three levels of coaching. Having qualified the first level this year, I need to clear the 2nd level within the next 2 years and the 3rd level within one year after the completion of 2nd level, as per the schedule of the scheme. Once all the three levels are completed as per schedule, the candidate is certified as ‘High performance coach’, and is eligible to coach any international cricket team. I am quite confident to complete the next two levels within the scheduled time”, he said.
