To review the progress of various initiatives being undertaken under the Khelo India Scheme (KIS), a two-member team of senior officials from the Sports Authority of India (SAI), headed by Executive Director, North India, visited Jammu and Kashmir today.
The team, which comprises Executive Director Manjushree Dayanand and Sangeeta Sheoran, Deputy Director (SAI) RC Zirakpur, reviewed the Water Sports Centre at Nehru Park, Srinagar today. They are scheduled to visit Manasbal Lake tomorrow to further inspect the water sports facilities.
Divisional Sports Officer, Central, Javid ur Rehman, said, “The two-member team of SAI reached Kashmir and visited the Water Sports Centre at Srinagar. They will visit Manasbal Lake tomorrow to review water sports facilities.”
Apart from their visit to Kashmir, the team will travel to Jammu’s Water Sports Academy at Basohli to review the water sports facilities and explore possibilities for enhancing water sports activities in the region. The officials are also likely to inspect centers operating under the Khelo India Scheme in both regions.
“The officials will review the progress and gather first-hand information on the current status of these centers, including the number of trainees, infrastructure, availability of equipment, performance of mentors, administrative matters, and all facilities being provided by the Union Sports Ministry under the scheme,” officials said.
