To carry out the necessary repairs and maintenance, authorities at Roads and Building Department (R&B) said they have taken up the restoration, resurfacing of the roads in the Srinagar city.
A top official from R&B said that the department has taken up the restoration, resurfacing work in stretches required for road length falling under R&B.
“In Srinagar we have around 407 KM road stretch with us and wherever the restoration or resurfacing is needed in Srinagar will be taken up. Currently the restoration, resurfacing work is being carried out at various locations in Srinagar”, said an official.
The official added that the resurfacing or restoration of roads in Srinagar is also being taken up by other departments and agencies as R&B is not the only agency.
“There are various road stretches in Srinagar whose restoration or repairs are being done under the Smart City project and are being looked up directly by them. Of Srinagar roads a greater stretch is also being looked up by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC)”, the official added.
As per the officials at R&B, Srinagar has a total road stretch of around 1758 KM of which 1394 KM road stretch is being looked up by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) while the remaining road stretch falls under R&B and includes a minor road stretch which falls under Budgam district.
