Kashmir Judo player Rahil Shafi bagged bronze medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Judo championship at Jaipur Rajasthan. The championship is being held from November 4 to 11 and in it athletes from more than 14 countries are participating.
Two players from J&K viz. Rahil Shafi and Shafkat Shafi are participating in the event. Among the duo, Rahil Shafi bagged bronze medal on Friday.
“I would like to thank the almighty Allah first, secondly my Coach Shafkat Shafi, my practice partners and J&K Judo Association for their support. The win wouldn’t have been possible without all of them,” he said.
According to Rahil, all credit goes to his coach, as it was not possible to win the medal because of the injury he received in his semi-final bout. It was his coach who prepared him for the next medal bout.
Rahil also thanked the Chairman Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute, Tariq Ahmad for his sponsorship.
J&K Judo Association has congratulated Rahil for the win.
