A teenager from the saffron town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been selected for Open Thai International Boxing Championship.
Tabin Muzafar Wagay, son of Muzafar Ahmad Wagay, a resident of Kadlabal locality of Pampore , has been selected for the championship which is scheduled to be held in Sharjah, Dubai from 12 to 14 August.
The junior boxer will also be playing first Delhi Open Mixed Martial Arts Championship to be held at Dwarka from 29 to 31 July of this year.
At the national event, he will be part of Jammu and Kashmir team. “I am first player Pulwama district selected for open International Thai Boxing Championship Dubai for junior category,” Tabin said, adding that that he is very much excited with his twin selections.
Tabin is in 10th standard at Delhi Modern Public School Pampore. He has been keenly learning martial arts from an early age and has been trained by a local coach Sajad Ahmad Bhat at an academy in Pampore.
“I want to thank my coach who introduced me to this game,” he said, adding that it was because of his coach’s guidance that he has been selected for international championship.
Tabin has been giving stunning performances at different events and has won two gold medals at district level and two at National level. He has also played federation cup where he won bronze.
After qualifying trails, he was selected for national and international level at couple of days ago. “I am aiming at winning Gold,” he said.
He said that his parents and siblings always supported him and encouraged him to hone his talent. Tabin’s twin selections has swept his relatives and neighbours with joy.
Many of his relatives, friends and neighbours started visiting his house in droves for congratulating and wishing him the best.
