Promotion of Srinagar-Uri bus service as new tourism avenue sought

Uri Development Forum, a local organisation working for tourism in border town Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, has requested the Tourism Department Kashmir to promote the newly introduced Srinagar-Uri bus service.

In a letter addressed to the Director Tourism Kashmir, Naveed Bukhtiyar, co-founder of the Forum, highlighted the launch of daily bus services between Srinagar to Uri.

“I want to inform you of the commencement of new daily bus services operating between Srinagar and Uri. This initiative has been introduced to enhance connectivity and facilitate easier travel for both tourists and residents,” the letter reads

“To ensure that this valuable information reaches all stakeholders and tourism players effectively, I kindly request you to circulate details of this new bus service among relevant individuals and organisations within the tourism sector. Promoting these services will help in optimising the travel experience for visitors and potentially boost tourism in Uri and increase the livelihood in the area,” it reads.

The service includes two daily buses on the Srinagar-Uri route, departing at 7:20 am and 3:30 pm.

The letter also said that bus service will help promote tourist spots in Uri, such as Datta Mandir, Uri Power Project I & II, Nambla Waterfall, Baba Fareed Peak, Limber Wildlife Sanctuary, and Gurudwara Chatti Patshahi Sahib.

“Uri has been majestically bestowed by nature with tremendous beauty and one-day tours can be initiated easily by the tourism players of Kashmir on your advice, to bring Uri on tourism map. There are multiple places which can be covered in a day and even there are trekking routes as well,” the letter added.
