Police Inaugurates T-10 Cricket Tournament for Specially-Abled Persons in Shopian

Under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme (CAP), Police Monday inaugurated a T-10 Cricket Tournament for Specially-Abled persons at Batapora Stadium, Shopian.

The tournament features six teams from different districts and aims to promote inclusivity while recognizing the talent of differently-abled individuals in society.

The tournament was inaugurated by SSP Shopian, Anayat Ali Chowdhary, at Sports Stadium Batapora. In his address, SSP Shopian encouraged all players to actively participate in the tournament. He also urged the youth to engage in sports and games, emphasising that Police is committed to providing a platform for their development not only in sports but also in personality building. He further highlighted the role of sports in creating a drug-free, crime-free, and prosperous Shopian. During the event, cricket kits were distributed among all six participating teams.

The inaugural and distribution of cricket kits saw the presence of Addl. SP Shopian Shukat Rafiq -JKPS, DySP (now SP) Hqrs Shopian Javed Ahmad, SHO PS Shopian and other officers/ officials of District Police Shopian. This initiative highlights Police’s dedication to community welfare, with a strong focus on supporting underprivileged, orphans and persons with disabilities.
