To foster sportsmanship, community engagement and healthy activities among the youth, Range Police Headquarters Baramulla hosted a one-day skiing competition at Gulmarg, drawing nearly 50 enthusiastic participants from all districts of North Kashmir. The event highlighted the organization’s commitment to promoting youth involvement in sports and healthy activities.
Maqsood-ul-Zaman, DIG North Kashmir was the chief guest while SSP Baramulla Gurinder Pal Singh and officials from the Gulmarg Development Authority, Tourism Department and Youth Services & Sports, attended the event. In his speech, DIG North Kashmir, Maqsood ul Zaman emphasized the importance of community engagement and healthy activities for the youth.
He stated, “As police officers, our role goes beyond ensuring safety and order; it is about working alongside the community to build trust and collaboration. By organizing events like this, we get to connect with the public as neighbors, friends, and partners, making our community a better place.”
He further elaborated that the event was not just about the thrill of competition or the pursuit of medals but about promoting core values such as respect, integrity, and perseverance—qualities that contribute to a stronger, more united community.
Looking ahead, Range Police Headquarters Baramulla announced its commitment to continuing such initiatives throughout the year, with upcoming events including cricket, football and volleyball tournaments. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.
