PM to lay foundation stone/inaugurate 84 major projects worth Rs 1500 cr in Srinagar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay foundation stone and inaugurate 84 major developmental projects worth more than Rs 1500 crore, launch the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors (JKCIP) project at the cost of Rs 1800 crore and distribute appointment letters to more than 2000 persons in the Government services at a function at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC in Srinagar tomorrow evening.

Modi will reach Srinagar tomorrow evening and will participate in an event ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ at SKICC Srinagar. On June 21, he will lead the nation in celebrating International Yoga Day before returning to the Union capital.

The projects to be inaugurated by the PM are related to road infrastructure, Water Supply Schemes and infrastructure in Higher Education etc. He will also lay the foundation stone for projects like improvement of Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri section, development of Industrial Estates and construction of six Government Degree Colleges.

Modi will launch the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture & Allied Sectors (JKCIP) project worth Rs 1800 crore. The project will be implemented in 90 blocks across 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir. It will have the project outreach of 300,000 households covering 15 lakh beneficiaries.
“The foundation stone laying/inauguration and launch of the projects will empower youth and upgrade infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir,” an official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on the eve of Modi’s two-day visit to Srinagar, said.
The Prime Minister will distribute appointment letters to more than 2000 persons appointed in the Government services.

“The event ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ which the Prime Minister will address at SKICC Srinagar at 6 PM tomorrow, is a pivotal moment for the region, showcasing progress and providing inspiration to the young achievers,” the PMO statement said.
It added that on the occasion, Modi will also inspect stalls and interact with young achievers of J&K.
On June 21, at 6.30 am, the Prime Minister will participate in 10th International Day of Yoga event at SKICC Srinagar. He will address the gathering on the occasion and take part in the CYP Yoga session thereafter.

“This year’s event underscored yoga’s profound impact on young minds and bodies. The celebration aims to unite thousands in the practice of yoga, promoting health and wellness on a global scale,” the official statement said.
It added that since 2015, the Prime Minister has led the International Yoga Day celebrations at various iconic locations including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru and even the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

“This year’s theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society’ highlights the dual role in fostering individual and societal well being. The event will encourage grassroots participation and the spread of yoga in rural areas,” the PMO statement said.

The projects to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister include 50 Water Supply Schemes to the tune of Rs 150 crore, road infrastructure projects worth Rs 54 crore, infrastructure projects in higher education costing Rs 51 crore, advanced health equipments like PET CT Scan, High Dose Rate Brachytherapy and Bio-Safety Level-3 and Genome Sequencing Lab at the cost of Rs 24 crore.

Rs 1000 crore worth foundation stone laying projects include improvement of Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section at the cost of Rs 431 crore, development of Industrial Estates with Rs 292 crore and construction of six Government Degree Colleges at the cost of Rs 76 crore.
