In a significant development aimed at empowering entrepreneurs from socially disadvantaged sections, Prime Minister NarendraModi launched the PradhanMantriSamajikUtthanEvamRozgarAdharitJankalyan (PM-SURAJ) national portal. The launch ceremony saw the sanctioning of credit support to one lakh entrepreneurs across the country.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for this initiative, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha hailed the Prime Minister’s commitment to ensuring inclusivity and empowerment for all sections of society. The launch event, which took place today, witnessed the provision of assistance to 1747 beneficiaries in Jammu and Kashmir, including individuals from Scheduled Caste, Other Backward Classes (OBC), and the SafaiKaramchari community, enabling them to embark on entrepreneurial ventures and lead dignified lives.
Highlighting the Prime Minister’s efforts in uplifting marginalized sections, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha remarked, “Hon’ble Prime Minister has ensured that no one is left behind. From basic facilities to education and financial inclusion, he has undertaken many reforms to create a large pool of young entrepreneurs from the marginalized section of society.”
The launch ceremony, attended by Dr.Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of State, PMO, also witnessed the issuance of Ayushman Health Cards and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to beneficiaries from disadvantaged backgrounds, including SafaiKarmcharis, Sewer, and Septic Tank Workers, under the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) initiative.
During the event, Prime Minister Modi interacted with Ms.NeelamKumari, a resident of Kathua, who utilized government loan facilities to establish her boutique. Ms.Kumari, a beneficiary of multiple welfare schemes including Ujjwala, PM Awas, Ayushman Bharat, and Swachh Bharat, was lauded by the Prime Minister for her entrepreneurial spirit and her contribution towards employment generation, particularly for women.
The nationwide outreach event witnessed the participation of approximately 3 lakh beneficiaries from various government schemes catering to disadvantaged groups, spanning over 500 districts across the country.
PM Modi’s launch of the PM-SURAJ portal and the provision of credit support underscore the government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and economic empowerment among socially disadvantaged sections, thereby promoting inclusive growth and development.
