Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the highly anticipated Z-Morh tunnel in Sonamarg on Monday, accompanied by Union Ministers Nitin Jairam Gadkari and Dr. Jitendra Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and other officials.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the tunnel’s East Portal. Following the event, the Prime Minister, along with the dignitaries, toured the tunnel before proceeding to the main venue.
The 6.5-kilometer-long Z-Morh Tunnel is a crucial infrastructure project aimed at ensuring year-round connectivity to Sonamarg from Srinagar, overcoming the challenges posed by severe winter weather.
