From securing a Bachelor’s degree in Science from Jamia Hamdard University, and now being a calligrapher, Baseerat Jan has truly come a long way. She used to make name, diwani style calligraphy but Arabic calligraphy is her main passion. Calligraphy enriches faith, connects me to the Quran. According to the Archeological Survey of India, one such art method i.e. calligraphy was introduced to Kashmir by the scholar saint Sharaf-ud-Din Bulbul in the fourteenth century A.D. Baseerat said that the youth of J&K are very much talented but there is a need to direct them properly towards their goal and youth must work hard and show steadfastness in order to achieve any goal.
