NIT Srinagar organized a challenge, inviting all the innovators to tackle the COVID-19 virus.

It is said Innovative products mostly come during the times of adversities. NIT Srinagar organized a challenge, inviting all the innovators to tackle the COVID-19 virus. The theme of the challenge included Innovative Quick Screening, Rapid Testing Kits, Personal Protective Equipment, Designing Supplies, or Devices (face shields, masks, and low-cost frugal ventilators), Innovative ways/channels for the supply and distribution of essential items, Efficient handling/transportation, and management of COVID-19 patients and overcoming the social stigma associated with COVID-19. They received over 40 entries within 10 days from the locals, including the youngest innovator belonging from class 9th.
Engineering students, Sajid Noor, Arshid Iqbal, and Jahangir Ahmad Lone shared the first prize in the ventilator category. It carried a cash prize of 35,000. In the Robotics category, Najeeb Shafi bagged the first prize. In the PPE category, Moonis ul Islam won first prize. Farooq Ahmad Pandit bagged the first prize in the face shield category. To carry forward the ideas that can’t be implemented and converted into an immediate action plan, NIT has decided to provide such innovators with a platform through which they would be connected to DST. Till the ideas get developed properly, NIT will help and guide such research fellows until the purpose is achieved.
Opportunities like these open doors for the students for showing up their talent to the world and we hope to see more such opportunities and young innovators coming forward.
