NIT Srinagar hosts special BWC meeting

 The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar  held a special meeting of Building and Works Committee (BWC) in which two infrastructure projects under Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) were recommended for approval of Financial Committee (FC) and Board of Governors (BOG). On the occasion, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal, who is also chairman of the BWC presided over the meeting and discussed works done during the stage 2020-21 and other projects in the pipeline.

He said the special BWC meeting was called on instructions of the Secretary of the Ministry of Education (MOE) to consider the proposal of creation of infrastructural facilities for Economically Weaker Sections (EWC) in the Institute. “Two projects under EWS category were recommended for approval of FC and BOG with a total cost of approximate rupees 17 crores,” Prof. Sehgal said. Apart from the creation of EWS infrastructure on the campus, Directed NIT Srinagar also discussed many other things including renovation of labs, hostels, and construction of a New Health Centre.

 

The meeting was attended by Mr. Anil Kumar.  Director Finance, Higher Education Department MoE, and Mr. Indrajeet Kuri, Undersecretary Department of Higher Education at Ministry of Education.The agenda of the meeting was presented by Registrar NIT Srinagar Professor Kaiser Bukhari and who is also Member Secretary of BWC.He said the mandate of the BWC is to recommend and discuss the works related to civil and electrical infrastructure. Then it will be further discussed in FC and BOG meetings, Prof Bukhari said. The meeting was attended by Chief Town Planner Kashmir, Iftikhar Ahmad Hakeem, Dean Planning & Development, NIT Srinagar Prof. Bashir Ahmed Mir,  Ajit Kumar, SE CPWD, Executive Engineer (Electric) Farooq Ahmed, PDD Srinagar, and Rahul Gupta, Executive Engineer, CPWD.While as Mohsin Shabir Executive Engineer Planning and Development wing of NIT Srinagar also attended the meeting as a special invitee.
