NIELIT Srinagar joins newly established Deemed-to-be University as Constituent Campus

In a significant development, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Srinagar has been included as one of the constituent campuses of the newly established NIELIT Deemed-to-be University under the distinct category.

Notably, NIELIT is an autonomous scientific society of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India (GoI).

The NIELIT Deemed-to-be University is the lone University under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology with its main campus at Ropar and has other 11 constituent centres.

These centres are at Agartala, Aizawl, Ajmer, Aurangabad, Calicut, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Gorakhpur, Patna and Srinagar.

“The deemed to be University is offering IT and Electronics programs which are research and industry-relevant,”

The University is offering Doctorate, Post Graduate, Undergraduate and Diploma courses across its 11 constituent centres.

“NIELIT Deemed-to-be University aims to advance education and research in electronics, information technology, and related fields, the official said.

The recognition of NIELIT Srinagar as one of the constituent campuses of the deemed-to-be University underscores a broader vision for integrating specialized institutions into larger academic frameworks which aim for comprehensive development and innovation.

“NIELIT Srinagar’s new status will enhance its capabilities by providing a broader platform for academic and research excellence,” in-charge Director NIELIT J&K, Ashaq Hussain Dar told Greater Kashmir.

He said that NIELIT Srinagar will be launching two significant programs including a Master of Technology (MTech) in Cyber Forensics and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program as well.

“These programs are designed to address the growing demand for specialized expertise in cyber security and advanced research in technology,” he said.

He said that MTech in Cyber Forensics will offer students cutting-edge knowledge and skills in the analysis and prevention of cybercrimes, while the PhD program aims to foster high-level research and innovation in various technology domains.

“Both the programmes have been introduced to address the contemporary challenges and drive forward technological advancements,” he said.

Dar however said that several other specialized programs will be launched shortly in the emerging areas of electronics and information technology

“The incorporation of NIELIT Srinagar into the NIELIT Deemed-to-be University is expected to create a ripple effect and foster regional development by elevating the standards of technical education in the region,” he said.
