NHAI’s 5.5 km bridge set to transform Jammu-Srinagar NH ..

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is set to embark on a transformative project aimed at enhancing vehicular movement on the Jammu and Kashmir National Highway. To mitigate the challenges posed by inclement weather and landslides, NHAI has announced the construction of a 5.5 km long bridge between Maggerkote and Shibba in the Jammu region.

Parshotam Kumar, Project Officer at NHAI Ramban, stated that the strategically located bridge will effectively bypass the most landslide-prone stretch on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The primary objective is to ensure the seamless flow of traffic, even under the harshest weather conditions.
“Once completed, this 5.5 km long bridge will stand as the longest on the National Highway in Jammu and Kashmir. Its design specifically addresses the challenges posed by heavy snowfall and landslides, providing a critical solution to streamline vehicular movement”.

The NHAI has meticulously planned and designed the bridge to circumvent the landslide-prone areas on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. With construction expected to conclude by 2025, the project aims to significantly enhance the region’s infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted traffic flow during adverse weather conditions.
