National Championship: Sports Council announces screening for JK Thang-Ta team ..

The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council is set to conduct a rigorous screening for aspiring athletes at the Indoor Sports Hall, Polo Ground, Srinagar, on the 15th of November. This initiative aims to select the most promising candidates to represent the state in the upcoming 29th Sub-Junior and Senior National Thang-Ta Championship 2023. The championship is scheduled to take place in Ranchi, Jharkhand, from the 24th to the 26th of November.

Thang-Ta, a traditional martial art form originating from Manipur, has gained significant traction in Jammu and Kashmir, drawing enthusiastic participation from both boys and girls. The screening process orchestrated by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council underscores their commitment to fostering local talent and providing a platform for athletes to shine on regional, national, and even international stages.

The selection process holds immense significance as it not only showcases the Council’s dedication to promoting sports and physical fitness but also provides a chance for young athletes to represent their state in a prestigious national championship. The event acts as a stepping stone for these athletes to display their skills, compete at a national level, and potentially pave the way for future sporting successes.

The Council’s mission is clear: to identify, nurture, and support the athletic talent present within the Union Territory, ensuring they receive the necessary backing to excel in their chosen sports disciplines, both within and outside the region. This screening marks an integral step towards achieving that goal.
