A 22-year-old Girl from Srinagar’s khanyar area, a self taught calligraphy artist, who is also persuing BUMS in asian medical college of Zakura Campus.
Tahseen,a self-taught artist said in conversation with Correspondent She Said that i had a fire in my belly to become an artist since childhood.
“I was fond of art and craft from my childhood, i loved to be creative and used to make handmade things as they were imade out of love”, after passing my 10th class exams i opted med+maths stream and couldn’t do much at that time and then after higher secondary i got admission in asian medical college zakura campus .
She adds that soon after getting the admission from the college and lockdown started in the country and i had nothing to do,it was bit difficult time for everyone to stay inside their home, in order to get engaged with something i started writing Quranic ayah’s of hope and many more things”.
“i didn’t had any idea of calligraphy then one day a friend of mine sent me picture of kalma written on it and said inspired by you and that time i was like how can i miss it. And i wrote kalma in calligraphy for the first time and i saw everyone is appreciating me, that boosts my confidence and then i started doing calligraphy and tried to make it better by myself”
She has been passionately engaged in artwork since childhood, with a penchant for drawing and painting, she was drawn towards visual art at a very tender age,since then ahe developed herself into an artist”, said a family member.
Tehseen has no formal training in art and painting, the nuances were picked up by herself and fine-tuned her craft through experimentation, she added.
At last she said “for me calligraphy is not only an escape from this depressing world, but it helps me to explore what more i can do. When the ink flows from the pen my stress also flows through it. I thank to Allah that He gifted me with this art.
