Afiya Javaid, 28, from Katapora Yaripora in Kulgam, has made her district proud by securing an impressive 8th rank in the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive Examination (JKAS) – 2023, conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).
Daughter of Javaid Ahmad Lone, Afiya secured her place in the open merit category with a total score of 1063.
She told Rising Kashmir that this was her fourth attempt at the prestigious examination, and while she had reached the interview stage in previous attempts, success had eluded her by a narrow margin until now.
Afiya credited her preparation to Humdard Study Circle, where she worked as an academic associate for two years, and to Initiative for Competitive Promotion (ICP), where she prepared for the interview stage.
“The experience at these institutions was invaluable, providing the guidance and resources needed to keep moving forward,” she said.
A graduate in computer sciences, Afiya acknowledged her family’s unwavering support throughout her preparation.
“My family has always been my backbone, motivating me at each step,” she added.
